What the app reads
When a merchant installs the app, Catalog Doctor reads product records through the Shopify Admin API: titles, descriptions, SEO title and description, product type, vendor, status, tags, standard product category, variants, SKUs, prices, images, and alt text. It also reads the store’s published legal policies (return, shipping, privacy, and terms of service) when the store has granted that access. The public catalog check at /check reads only the store’s public products.json page. It does not log into the store.
What is stored
The app stores the shop domain, plan and billing status returned by Shopify, scan scores, per-product check results, and the fix proposals a merchant queues or applies. It stores the staff session Shopify issues so the embedded app can run. It does not build a customer profile and it does not store customer orders. Design-partner requests store the store URL, an email address, and the optional note about what the store sells. The public catalog check stores a copy of its report for about 24 hours so the same store is not fetched on every visit, plus a short-lived count of requests per IP address for the rate limit.
Privacy webhooks
Shopify can send customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact. A data request is logged. Catalog Doctor has no customer record to return. A customer redact deletes compliance-log rows for that customer id. A shop redact deletes that shop’s sessions, settings, scans, product snapshots, fix proposals, and compliance logs. Repeating shop/redact is safe.
Retention
Shop data stays while the app is installed. Uninstall removes the staff session and marks the subscription cancelled. shop/redact removes the remaining shop data. A design-partner request stays until you ask hello@catalogdoctorapp.com to delete it. Public check reports expire from the cache after about 24 hours. Rate-limit rows are used only to count recent requests.
